This degree is for students wanting a science-based course that is focused towards careers in the medical, paramedical and forensic fields. Areas of study include basic science (biology, chemistry and mathematics) followed by human physiology, genetics, nutrition, biochemistry, microbiology, and the integration and applications of disciplines such as biochemistry, biophysics, chemistry, genetics, microbiology, pharmacology and human physiology into biomedical science. Study is also available in bioethics and sociology of medicine. A fourth year is required for honours. For students without the recommended background knowledge, the Faculty offers foundation units in chemistry, mathematics and physics.
