This is a two-year teacher preparation program for students who already hold a tertiary degree which maps to two secondary school curriculum teaching areas, and who aspire to be teachers. Through an integration of theory and urban, rural and remote practical placements, this course prepares graduates to teach two subject specialisations to year 12 in secondary schools, and become competent, critically engaged and caring teachers. Curriculum study areas include English, mathematics, sciences, information and communication technology (ICT), humanities and social sciences, visual art, health and physical education, business, and languages other than English (LOTE). Students must attend prescribed professional placements in secondary schools during the course. This course is nationally accredited through the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) in association with the Queensland College of Teachers (QCT). Graduates of this course are eligible for teacher registration in Australia. For current information, visit Master of Teaching and Learning (Secondary).
