Course outline

This program aims to assist Workplace Health and Safety (WH&S) professionals further develop, implement and evaluate WH&S interventions by utilising strong evidence based practice.

Coursework from the Graduate Certificate of Health (Workplace Health and Safety) is delivered in first year, focusing on practice and risk as well as regulations, systems and complexity. Semester two incorporates core subjects on organisational effectiveness and research skills.

The flexibility of this program will allow you to continue working, whilst adequately interacting with your supervisory team.

Upon successful completion, you may wish to consider studying the Master of Health (Workplace Health and Safety).

Please note, on campus blocks are compulsory for some subjects within this program.

To help you get the most from your online learning experience, it’s important that you own or have frequent access to a fast and reliable computer that’s ideally not more than two years old.
You will also need frequent access to a reliable high-speed internet connection. You should expect to use approximately 5GB of data each month, per course, just for study use.

Extra requirements (Domestic): It is strongly recommended that program participants be in employment or have access to a workplace for completion of assessment.

Applicants must supply a current resume with their application.

Admissions Criteria

Admission criterial HE study

An applicant must have successfully completed a three year (minimum) Bachelor level qualification in a related health cognate discipline area.

Admission criteria work/life experience

Either a bachelor degree; or a diploma or advanced diploma in OHS plus at least two years OHS experience in a workplace, or at least three years OHS management experience.

Applicant must be 16; Prior study

This program is accredited by the Safety Institute of Australia (SIA). Graduands of this program are deemed to have met the OHS qualification content requirement for certification, at either OHS professional or Chartered OHS professional levels.
