Activate your career in screen and media with this diploma qualification. Learn the specialist skills needed to be a game designer or game developer. This course is ideal for creative people seeking employment in the film, television, games industry, and screen and media industries. In this course student will gain a diverse range of skills in technical and theoretical Game Development. Students will be able to expand on their creative talents through practical exercises in Game Design, 3D Modelling, Programming, and Game Art, all while working in a collaborative, and simulated studio environment. Students will have access to industry standard equipment and the opportunity to develop close industry contacts through our leading educators.

Combined diploma/degrees

The Diploma of Screen and Media (Animation, Gaming and Visual Effects specialisation) can be combined with other programs as listed below to attain the awards of Diploma of Screen and Media (Animation, Gaming and Visual Effects specialisation) from TAFE Queensland and the relevant degree from the university. Students undertake initial study at TAFE Queensland and complete the degree at the relevant university. Duration, location, mode of study, semester intake, electives and specialisations may vary. All mandatory university admission and English language requirements must be met before university enrolment is finalised. For more information contact the relevant university. Note: TAFE Queensland students making transition to the degree may need to wait six months to start with the semester one university intake.

To apply for a combined diploma/degree, applicants must select the Diploma of Screen and Media (Animation, Gaming and Visual Effects specialisation) for the relevant TAFE Queensland location on their application and nominate their preferred degree/university (one only). Applicants can list the stand alone diploma or the combined program but not both. Listing more than one is not needed because they have the same eligibility and ATAR/rank requirements.
