This course is designed for experienced commercial aeroplane pilots looking to enhance their skills and knowledge and earn their instrumentation and multi-engine class ratings. TAFE Queensland has partnered with the National Aviation Academy to provide students with technical and non-technical skills to fly a multi-engine aircraft under instrument flight rules. In this course students will learn how to plan and navigate a flight under instrument flight rules, perform published and non-published instrument departure procedures, operate aircraft using aircraft flight instruments, and perform instrument arrival and standard arrival route procedures. This course will allow graduates to advance their existing aviation skills and enable the graduate to earn their Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) instrumentation and multi engine class ratings. Completion of this course will open up a range of career options as a commercial aeroplane pilot working in border surveillance, emergency services, airlines, or corporate charters. Applicants to this course will have the option of choosing Job Ready, Performance or High Performance.

Applicant must be 18; CASA requirements
Commercial or military pilot entrants to this qualification should check requirements with Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) or Defence Aviation for certification and/or flight hour requirements. To be eligible for an offer in this course applicants must supply documentary evidence of the following to TAFE Queensland, Townsville (Bohle) by the nominated date: current Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC) for flight crew, an Aviation Reference Number (ARN), current Aviation Class 1 Medical Certificate carried out by a Designated Aviation Medical Examiner (DAME), be able to demonstrate English language proficiency with the National Aviation Academy to meet the minimum requirements set by CASA, hold a Civil Aviation Safety Regulations (CASR) part 61 Flight Crew Licence – Commercial Pilot Licence – Aeroplane and show evidence of a Single engine class rating.
