Course outline

TAFE Queensland, in partnership with the National Aviation Academy, will give students the skills and experience needed to take your career to new heights. Successful completion of this course will allow graduates to take to the skies as a commercial aeroplane pilot. In this course students will learn how to perform normal and emergency commercial pilot duties including passenger, charter and cargo operations. As a commercial aeroplane pilot graduates will discover a variety of options to hone their skills and open up a range of career opportunities including rural operations, joy-flights, air transport charter operations, and search and rescue. Successful completion of this course will provide graduates with the knowledge and practical skills required to embark upon an exciting career as a commercial aeroplane pilot.

Applicant must be 18; CASA requirements

Additional entry requirements

Commercial or military pilot entrants to this qualification should check requirements with Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) or Defence Aviation for specific pilot entry standards. To be eligible for an offer in this course applicants must supply documentary evidence of the following to TAFE Queensland, Townsville (Bohle) by the nominated date: current Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC) for flight crew by the students first census date, an Aviation Reference Number (ARN), current Aviation Class 1 Medical Certificate carried out by a Designated Aviation Medical Examiner (DAME) by the students first census date and be able to demonstrate English language proficiency with Townsville Flight Training to meet the minimum requirements set by CASA. TAFE Queensland will contact applicants directly regarding document requirements and submission. Participants must be a minimum of 18 years of age prior to the completion of this qualification.

Assumed knowledge

English (Units 3 and 4, C); General Mathematics, Mathematical Methods or Specialist Mathematics (Units 3 and 4, C) or equivalent.
