Course outline

This program prepares students for careers in both engineering and science. Students explore real-world problems from multiple scientific perspectives. Students choose an engineering major and combine it with their choice of science major. This combined degree uses theoretical knowledge and practical experience to produce graduates who are successful in their chosen career pathway. Note

None of the Bachelor of Science majors are available at the Springfield campus. However, Springfield students may be able to take a Science major externally.

Majors

Engineering: agricultural; civil; computer systems; electrical and electronic; environmental; instrumentation control and automation (external only); *mechanical; power. Science: biology; computing; environment and sustainability; food science; human physiology; mathematics; physical sciences; plant agricultural science; statistics; wine science. *Students taking the mechanical engineering major cannot complete the science computing major within 40 units.

Other requirements

Students must complete 60 days of work experience in an engineering workplace.

Prerequisites

English, Literature, English and Literature Extension or English as an Additional Language (Units 3 and 4, C); Mathematical Methods (Units 3 and 4, C)

Additional entry requirements

External students must complete a minimum of five units of study per year, or be eligible for 16 units of credit, to complete the program within the maximum duration.

Depending on the engineering major: professional engineering (civil), agricultural hydrology, soil conservation, machinery manufacture, environmental management, urban development, computer hardware design, networking, communications, food processing, power stations, telecommunications, manufacturing industries, transport industries, robotics, port authorities.
