In the Bachelor of Creative Arts (Contemporary Art) immerse yourself in the dynamic and transformative culture of contemporary art. Be part of a vibrant community of practice and work intensively with leading creative artists and thinkers in state-of-the-art facilities. Develop personal and critical frameworks to investigate the challenges and creative possibilities of today’s ever-changing, globalised, digital world – and learn to shape its future.
Our unique open studio environment enables you to experiment across an extensive range of art media. These include drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, installation art, photography, video art, performance art and digital art. Our program foregrounds critical thinking and is grounded in understanding the context of modern and contemporary art. You will also gain an appreciation of cross-cultural and Indigenous Australian perspectives on art.
In our studio program, you will specialise in contemporary art practice and develop personalised approaches to making art. You will also have opportunities to present collaborative projects in public spaces, galleries and arts festivals. You will be equipped with the ability to communicate your own ideas and engage with key contemporary debates in relation to digital transformation, social justice and environmental sustainability. In your final year of study, you will choose an advanced studio or critical theory stream – and present your professional practice in showcase exhibitions and events.
