Course outline

If you have a keen eye for art and design, this flexible course will enable you to progress your studies by undertaking an academic thesis or substantial creative, design or industry-relevant piece of work related to your specialised area. Working closely with expert supervisors, you will develop the high-level skills required for research or project-based employment, and your qualification will significantly broaden your future career prospects. You will have the opportunity to fine-tune your knowledge base in your chosen field and have the choice of taking three coursework units on research issues. You can also demonstrate an ability to apply appropriate high-level research skills, plan, implement and document a substantial research, industry-relevant or creative project under professional academic supervision. You will also have the option to undertake a Work Integrated Learning project accompanied by a critical review and have the option of completing a dissertation with guidance from expert supervisors.

Prerequisites

Completion of Year 12 or attained Year 12 leaving age; Prior study

Additional entry requirements

This course is open to University of Canberra students who have completed a degree in the Faculty of Arts and Design with at least a grade point average of 5.0 or better (equivalent to a credit average), or students from a three-year degree in a cognate discipline with a relevant major in which they received a grade point average of 5.0 or better. Pass degree graduates in similar disciplinary fields from other universities, with comparable results, may also be eligible to undertake this honours degree. Students are to undertake the thesis component of their degree in a subject area related to their disciplinary competence. They must show evidence of having performed in some subjects relevant to the proposed study at Distinction level or above. Contact TAFE Queensland, South Bank Campus for more information.
