This course is designed to prepare students for occupational health and safety roles at paraprofessional level. The course equips students with knowledge and skills in ergonomics, science and occupational health and safety management and is constantly updated in consultation with industry, ensuring students graduate with up-to-date skills and are work ready. Students studying full-time on campus may need to complete some units online. Depending on units selected, students may be required to attend on-campus residential schools, which may involve interstate travel. Bundaberg, Gladstone, Rockhampton and Brisbane: Students are able to attend on-campus lectures for the two years of the course in many core subjects. Mackay: Students can attend on-campus lectures for the first year of the course in core AF & OHS subjects. Some second year subjects may also be available internally.

On completion of appropriate years of service, graduates may be eligible to apply for membership as chartered professionals with the Safety Institute of Australia.
