Course outline

This VET qualification prepares students to work in case management and client support roles in the community services sector. Students gain the expertise and knowledge to facilitate case management, assess and analyse client needs, communicate effectively with clients and staff and support client self-management. Students are required to attend on-campus workshops that provide opportunities to put their skills into practice. On successful completion, graduates can apply for admission into a number of ACAP’s undergraduate degree courses and receive specified subject credits. This course includes 210 hours of work placement. Students must successfully complete a Working with Children Check and a National Criminal Record Check prior to placement.

Prerequisites

ATARs are no longer a necessary component of the ACAP admissions criteria. Applicants to an undergraduate course must meet the following criteria:
• Participate in a screening interview (typically by phone though online can be arranged if required); and
• Be 21 years or above at the date of commencement; orCompletion of a Senior Secondary Certificate of Education (or equivalent); or
• Completion of a Certificate IV or above (or equivalent); or
• Admission to an undergraduate degree at an Australian University (or equivalent)
