Course outline

This course prepares students to assess and manage communication disorders and encompasses all aspects of communication including speech, writing, reading, signs, symbols and gestures. Students study the theoretical and practical aspects of speech, hearing, language, voice, and difficulties in swallowing and feeding. The course is currently accredited with Speech Pathology Australia in Brisbane, Melbourne, and North Sydney. Accreditation means that all graduates are eligible to apply for membership of Speech Pathology Australia.

Students undertake approximately 750 hours of professional experience across four years. Prerequisites

English, Literature, English and Literature Extension or English as an Additional Language (Units 3 and 4, C); One of Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Health or Physical Education (Units 3 and 4, C)

Additional entry requirements

Applicants who have undertaken higher education study at bachelor level or higher with one full year completed are considered on the basis of the selection rank from that study.
