Course outline

The first two years cover introductory studies of Australian society and the Australian welfare state, the nature of social issues, social research, psychology, cross-cultural knowledge, and the values and skills required for effective social welfare practice within a framework of social justice principles. The final two years focus on developing knowledge and skills for social work practice in direct intervention, research and social policy. Supervised field experience totalling 1000 hours is offered in two of the four years of the course. JCU offers guaranteed admissions to most courses if a minimum ATAR is achieved. Note

All students must attend face-to-face, on-campus workshops for 20 days or more each year.
