At the University of Southern Queensland (USQ) students are their
number one priority. When you study with USQ you receive the one-to-one
support they are famous for – regardless of whether you study on campus or by
distance education. From the moment you enrol you will have your very
own Student Relationship Officer ( SROs) who are in a team
designed to answer all your questions and help you through your journey as
a USQ student. Whether you decide to experience university study at either
of the three campuses (Toowoomba, Springfield or Fraser Coast), by distance
education, online, or a combination of all three – you will find the support of a
real community, wherever you are. With thousands of students from all walks
and stages of life, USQ are proof that university can work for you. With flexible
program structures and passionate staff, their goal is the success of each and
every student.
As a USQ student, you become part of a large extended family. Currently,
there are more than 25,000 USQ students completing their studies throughout
Australia and the world. There are people just like you studying USQ courses
in over 100 different countries, with more than 80 nationalities represented
on our three campuses. If you study via distance education, USQ have made it easy for you to
connect with other students who can greatly enrich your learning journey.
Many of the programs offer a three semester intake, so you can start your
degree when you’re ready. A three semester offering means you can fast-track
your degree by taking on additional subjects over the summer. If you move interstate or across the world, your dreams
and goals can move with you. Being a USQ student means you can complete
your qualifications wherever you find yourself. Similarly, if your family or work
situation changes, you might decide to lighten your study load or increase to
full-time study. It is entirely up to you.
Toowoomba Campus
The main campus is located on 75.6ha of landscaped grounds in Toowoomba, one of Australia’s largest inland cities, located just an hour and a half west of Brisbane. In the past 10 years Toowoomba has twice been voted Australia’s best city to live in.
The campus has three residential colleges, television studios, a state-of-the-art
library, performing arts theatre, concert hall, sciences and engineering
laboratories, modern lecture theatres, 24 hour access computer laboratories,
a sports and recreation centre and many sports grounds. The Toowoomba
campus also has numerous retail facilities, including a bookshop, post
office, doctor, gymnasium, hairdresser, banks, and ATMs. Australia’s largest
traditional Japanese garden is adjacent to the campus, a wonderful place
to go and have lunch. USQ Toowoomba is a fun, vibrant campus and you’ll
find plenty of ways to unwind and make the most out of your university
experience. There are cafés and eateries, the University Club, events organised
by the Student Guild, and a huge range of sports and social clubs.
Springfield campus
USQ’s Springfield campus opened in 2006. Today, there are more than 1500 students enrolled on-campus in the areas of arts, business, education, engineering, law, and psychology. USQ Springfield is located in Education City, just 25 minutes drive from Brisbane and 40 minutes from the Gold Coast.
USQ Springfield’s ‘Community Centred – Career Focused’ theme provides a
student-focused educational environment with the latest in program delivery
and technology. Education City has facilities including a café/restaurant and
bar, convenience store, and BBQ area. The campus is adjacent to the new
regional parkland with extensive water play and recreational areas, and is only
a few minutes walk from the Orion Springfield Town Centre shopping and
entertainment precinct site.
Fraser Coast campus
USQ Fraser Coast is located on one of Australia’s most beautiful pieces of coastline, at Hervey Bay in Queensland. The campus is in walking distance of shops, sporting facilities and the calm bay waters, which are perfect for diving, swimming, snorkeling, boating, and fishing. The campus caters to small class sizes and prides itself on personal face-to-face teaching and supportive distance learning. It has state-of-the-art technology and provides ready access to global information and resources. USQ Fraser Coast is located in one the country’s fastest growing campuses and is located in one of Australia’s most rapidly developing and beautiful regional cities.
Distance education
Going to university is a great chance for you to develop and grow as an
individual and to study a subject you love in a supportive and challenging
environment. Studying by distance education provides you with the
opportunity to study, regardless of your location. It allows you to continue
to fulfil other life commitments, such as work, family or travel. Studying by
distance education means you can vary the number of courses you take
each semester to suit your circumstances. You can choose to study part of
your program at home by distance education and part on campus at the
Toowoomba, Springfield or Fraser Coast campuses.
USQ has been providing distance education programs for many years, and
is an international
leader in off campus
or distance
education. More
than 75 percent
of USQ students study by distance and they provide
distance education
for students in
over 80 countries.
USQ was also the
inaugural winner
of the International
Council for Open
and Distance
Learning
(ICDE) prize for
institutional
excellence for its
global education
initiatives
and expertise
in providing
flexible learning
opportunities
around the world.
