University of New England (UNE) offers you an education that’s truly world class. State-of-the-art teaching and research facilities, sporting amenities and vibrant residences mean that you have everything you need at your disposal.
UNE was the first Australian university established outside a capital city. With a history extending back to the 1930s, it has a well-earned reputation as one of Australia’s great teaching, training and research universities.
While UNE has a long history and strong tradition, our outlook is dynamic and fresh. Our focus is on the future, ensuring that your education and qualifications are relevant. UNE’s vibrant living and learning lifestyle is one of the reasons UNE consistently receives the maximum five star rating for overall graduate satisfaction in The Good Universities Guide. More than 75,000 people hold UNE qualifications; many hold senior positions in
Australia and overseas.
At UNE you will experience a personal education that will set you apart from the rest. We offer flexible learning methods to suit your needs. Whether you choose to study full-time or part-time, on campus, by distance education, or a combination of both, UNE ensures you get the very best tuition.
Studying on campus means you will be immersed in a vibrant living and learning environment - a community where you will make lifelong friendships. We have smaller class sizes, an open door philosophy and the kind of campus where you’ll want to spend time. UNE has highly qualified teachers who come from all corners of the globe.
Armidale is an inspiring centre in which to study. It lies in the heart of beautiful New England, located halfway between Sydney and Brisbane on the New England Highway and just a two hour drive from the NSW north coast. The majority of first year students choose to live on campus enjoying a network of friends, social events and academic support. UNE has an extensive, traditional residential college system and boast sporting and cultural facilities that are the envy of our city counterparts. In the surrounding city of Armidale, you will find all the city comforts such as clubs and pubs, restaurants, live bands, fast food, theatre, cinema, shopping, and sporting events. Living and studying in Armidale means a lower cost of living compared to metropolitan universities.
Distance Education
Distance education allows you to tailor your studies to suit your life. We keep in contact via a range of communication channels and support you
with online technology and a vast array of reference material. UNE is at the forefront of distance education because we understand the challenges of being an off-campus student. Applicants wishing to study by distance education can find further information and apply directly from www.une.edu.
au/applynow or by calling 1800 818 865.
In 2012 UNE will offer three teaching periods a year, allowing students to spread their study throughout the year or increase the number of units studied in a year to reduce the time taken to complete a qualification.
Student Facilities
Banking facilities, the United Campus bookshop, newsagency, cafeteria, licensed restaurant, speciality shops, cricket practice wickets, squash courts, tennis courts, indoor heated swimming pool, numerous other sporting facilities, and a student radio station are all conveniently located. UNE’s residential system can accommodate over 2000 students and is made up of seven residential colleges and a village of self-contained apartments.
