The Queensland Institute of Business and Technology (QIBT) is Queensland’s leading university pathway provider that offers an alternative pathway into Griffith University. If you didn't achieve the OP you were expecting, or missed out on a place at university, and you are looking for a supportive and personalised learning environment that guarantees entry into the relevant Griffith University bachelor’s degree (with eight subjects credit
from the QIBT diploma), then you should consider QIBT. Since 1997, QIBT has provided high-quality higher education programs in an environment that encourages students to reach their maximum academic potential. QIBT offers university designed programs, taught by university lecturers, on Griffith University campuses. QIBT’s small lecture, tutorial and workshop groups, combined with professional and ongoing academic and
welfare support services, promote a personalised and supportive educational environment. QIBT operates from Griffith University’s Mt Gravatt campus, and from February 2012, will open on Griffith University’s Gold Coast campus, offering a variety of programs, including Foundation, Associate Degree, and Diplomas in Business and Commerce, Engineering, and Hotel Management.
QIBT’s higher education diploma programs are comparable to the first year of the corresponding Griffith University degree programs in Biosciences, Business and Commerce, Engineering, Graphic Design, Hotel Management, and Information Technology. QIBT diplomas are moderated by Griffith University lecturers and on successful completion of a QIBT diploma, students are guaranteed entry into the second year of the related Griffith University degree.
Progressing from Diploma to degree studies
For the single diploma and dual diploma/degree programs, guaranteed direct entry into second year of the relevant degree at Griffith University is open to Australian citizens and permanent residents who complete the diploma with a grade point average (GPA) which equates to a rank equivalent to the entry cut-off for the degree in the relevant QTAC offer round but is no less than 3.75. 80CP of credit transfer is awarded towards their degree. Graduates of QIBT’s Diploma of Graphic Design must apply for the Bachelor of Design at
Griffith University through QTAC and meet the relevant entry criteria.
QIBT offer a university foundation program, The Certificate IV in University Foundation Studies, which provides a bridge between secondary school and undergraduate studies (and is equivalent to Year 12 studies). Students can also choose to study a range of prerequisite subjects from the foundation program such as maths, biology, chemistry, and English, to satisfy admission criteria into selected QIBT diplomas or Griffith bachelor programs. QIBT also offer an Associate Degree in Commerce and Business, over two years, which leads into the third year of the Griffith University bachelor Degree. The associate degree assists QIBT Diploma of Commerce and Hotel Management graduates with a GPA of less than 3.75 by providing them with a further year of study in QIBT’s supportive environment.
Tri-semester
QIBT offers a tri-semester calendar with courses beginning in February, June
and October. This gives students the option of completing the program in
eight or 12 months.
