The Queensland Institute of Business and Technology (QIBT) offers an alternative pathway to Griffith University for Australian citizens and permanent residents who may not qualify for direct entry or who seek a supportive and personalised learning environment. Quality teaching, outstanding facilities, as well as academic and welfare support services, are central to QIBT’s educational philosophy and success. QIBT provides high
quality programs in an environment that encourages students to achieve excellence in their studies.

Established in 1997, QIBT is associated with Griffith University and operates from the University’s Mt Gravatt campus. QIBT provides students with an alternative pathway to an Australian university degree in the areas of biosciences, business and commerce, engineering, graphic design, hotel management, and information technology. Small lecture, tutorial and workshop groups help promote a personalised and supportive educational environment that encourages students to reach their maximum academic
potential.

QIBT diploma programs are based on the first year of Griffith University’s bachelor degree programs and are delivered and moderated by Griffith University lecturers. On successful completion of a QIBT diploma, students are guaranteed entry into the second year* of the related Griffith University degree**.

New to QIBT for 2010 is the Associate Degree in Commerce and Business (including hotel management). This program allows students to complete two years (four semesters) of study at QIBT before entering the third year at Griffith University. QIBT offers a flexible tri-semester calendar where students have the option to complete four semesters in 16 months. QIBT offers the associate degree along with its transitional support services, small classes and professional teaching staff so that students can successfully complete a bachelor’s degree at Griffith University in three years or less.
QIBT offers a tri-semester calendar with courses beginning in March, June and October every year. This gives students the option of completing the program in eight or 12  months.

*Australian citizens and permanent residents who successfully complete QIBT’s Diploma of Graphic Design must apply for the second year Griffith University program via Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC) and meet the relevant entry criteria.

** During their second or subsequent years of being enrolled in the Griffith University degree, students will be required to successfully complete any first year University degree core courses for which credit has not been granted on the basis of QIBT studies
