CQUniversity Australia (CQUni) is one of only four Australian Universities to receive a four and five star ranking from The Good Universities Guide for Positive Graduate Outcomes continuously for the last decade. Over 92% of CQUniversity students are employed full-time within four months after graduation, according to the 2007 Graduate Destination Survey. The national average is only 85.2%. CQUniversity is known for encouraging strong bonds among students and staff at well-appointed campuses and learning sites and has an excellent reputation for providing high levels of service to external students across Australia. Many of the University’s programs incorporate work experience and practical industry-based learning.

Programs in property, finance, engineering, environmental management, occupational health and safety, information technology (co-op), arts, business, nursing, education, and even aviation technology are just some of the innovative study areas designed to meet the needs of an Australian and international workforce. CQUniversity introduced four new programs for 2010 with a Bachelor of Multimedia Studies, Bachelor of Exercise and Sport
Sciences, a Master of Clinical Psychology, and a Graduate Certificate of Human Services. CQUniversity liaises with employers to develop meaningful course work and enhanced industry-based learning models. As a result, the University frequently upgrades and restructures programs to ensure students are equipped with the knowledge as well as the skills to enter the workforce. Many programs feature paid and unpaid industry-based components and workplace study options. The University is home to environmental, agricultural, social science, and engineering research facilities, as well as the highly regarded Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music at CQUniversity, Mackay.

CQUniversity campuses

No matter what your situation or where you live, you can study at CQUniversity - from Home by distance education, or at one of the many campuses and learning centres around Australia - so it’s likely you will find a location to suit you. Central Queensland campuses are located in Rockhampton, Bundaberg, Emerald, Gladstone, and Mackay. With small classes and relaxed surroundings, these locations cater for students who want to stay close to home yet have the advantage of studying for an internationally
recognised degree. CQUniversity also offers programs and a delivery site at Noosa, on the Sunshine Coast.

Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music

The Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music (CQCM) is located in a purpose-built facility at CQUniversity, Mackay. It features a 200-seat professionally equipped theatre with state-of-the-art lighting, sound and recording facilities. Students receive practical experience, making essential connections within the industry before graduation.

Distance Education

More than two-thirds of CQUniversity students are currently doing at least part of their program this way. CQUniversity is one of Australia’s leading providers of distance education and the choice of programs is vast. You’ll enjoy a high level of personal support from the moment you apply to the day you graduate. Put simply, distance education allows you to study for a degree from home, on the road or virtually anywhere. CQUniversity’s distance education programs are flexible, you can continue working and schedule your studies around your personal lifestyle or family commitments. You also have the option of mixing study modes - you might choose to do some courses on campus and others by distance. As distance education can pose its own set of complications, students can extend the time to complete their program. Learning is supported by contact with lecturers, tele-tutorials and online student discussion forums. Some courses have a practical component where you will be required
to attend residential workshops on campus. As a distance education student, you may use the library at the Bundaberg, Emerald, Gladstone, Mackay, and Rockhampton campuses. If you are outside the regional campus area, you can borrow books by mail or request photocopies of articles and use the library’s electronic resources. You may also use Learning Network Queensland Centres located throughout the state. Most of these centres offer the use of computers, printers, scanners, Internet, email, fax, photocopiers, and video-conferencing equipment.

Student Facilities

Enjoy university life to the fullest by getting involved in the many social, sporting and cultural activities on offer. There are clubs, societies and sporting teams for you to join
and the CQUniversity Student Association organises various events throughout the year.
The University also has extensive student and staff facilities at most of its campuses including bookshops (offering computer equipment, stationery and text books at competitive prices), post office and newsagent, hairdresser, cafés, computer facilities, refectories, libraries, an interfaith chaplaincy service, Communications Learning Centre, Mathematics Learning Centre, and Student Services (counselling, careers, student loans service, orientation and student mentoring). CQUniversity provides students with
computer, email, Internet, and other information technology facilities.
