The Australian Maritime College (AMC) is Australia’s best-equipped maritime and marine education, training and research institution and has a worldwide reputation for the quality of its graduates, its facilities and its programs. It is a specialist institute of the University of Tasmania that offers degree courses in marine and maritime studies. Courses are tailored to service the maritime and marine industries, the graduate employment rate approaches 100 per cent, and AMC is ranked in the top 10 maritime education institutions in the world.

AMC is located in Launceston, a thriving regional city that has excellent services, great pubs, clubs and restaurants and easy access to Tasmanian icons like Cradle Mountain National Park. AMC is structured around three national centres: The National Centre for Maritime Engineering and Hydrodynamics offers professional engineering degrees in marine and offshore systems, ocean engineering and naval architecture. All three are fully accredited by Engineers Australia and are recognised around the world. The National Centre for Ports and Shipping offers courses that allow students to work in the world of maritime business and logistics audits. Seafaring courses are STCW 95 compliant and approved by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority. The National Centre for Marine Conservation and Resource Sustainability aims to be the nexus between government and science. Students can choose from a range of marine-related study areas including conservation, aquaculture and resource management.

AMC’s main campus is alongside the University of Tasmania’s northern Tasmanian campus in Launceston. Beauty Point is home to all training vessels and the Centre for Seafarer Training, while the Fire Training Centre is located at Bell Bay.
