Program outline: The program equips students with a broad understanding of scientific principles as well as integrating key areas of exercise and nutrition sciences. The degree is particularly suited to students who intend to apply for a postgraduate professional degree (eg in dietetics, physiotherapy, medicine, clinical exercise physiology or sports coaching). Students examine how exercise and nutrition play a role in community health and the prevention and treatment of illnesses and disease. Students are also introduced to how the body moves and ways to enhance performance through exercise and nutrition. Courses cover a wide variety of areas including human movement sciences (eg exercise physiology, biomechanics, motor control), nutrition sciences (eg metabolism, food science) preventative health (eg community and public health nutrition, physical activity and health) and applied sciences (eg biophysics, chemistry, anatomy).
