Prerequisites: Completion of a Diploma or Advanced Diploma of Children's Services or equivalent accredited qualification. Diploma holders must have one year full-time group leader experience (or equivalent)

Additional entry requirements: The following early childhood experiences are accepted as equivalent to one year full-time group leader experience: two years full-time family day care experience as an accredited provider; two years full-time early childhood teacher aide experience in a state preschool, prep year or creche and kindergarten association centre; or two years full-time before and after school care experience. Advanced Diploma students must complete this work experience before they graduate from this course however if they already have this work experience, it is strongly recommended that evidence is provided with their QTAC application.

Program outline: This course is offered external part-time and prepares students to work with children from birth to five years in a range of careers in the childcare sector including leadership roles. Students undertake units in: early childhood development; language and literacies; arts; mathematics; society/health; leadership/management; and inclusive education. This course is an approved childcare qualification with Queensland Department of Communities. It does not lead to teacher registration.
