Alternative Entry

To be a successful tertiary student, it is not necessary for you to have completed Year 12 or to have any formal academic qualifications.  There are a number of alternative qualifications that you can submit that will assist your application.  Using these alternative qualifications is known as Alternative Entry.

Before you apply using Alternative Entry qualifications, carefully consider the qualifications you do have. For example, if you have ever completed Year 12 or its equivalent, undertaken some Senior External examination subjects, studied at university or TAFE, or completed an approved bridging course, you may be eligible for entry on the basis of these qualifications.

An outline of the policies and types of Alternative Entry qualifications recognised by institutions is available below.  However, it is strongly advised that you check with the relevant tertiary institutions to determine whether or not they will accept the entry conditions under which you will be submitting your application.

Note:  If you are applying via Alternative Entry, you are usually still required to satisfy Minimum Entry Requirements such as subject prerequisites set by the tertiary institution you are applying to.
