Upgrading Pathways

What does "Upgrading" mean?

Upgrading means that you gain a new, additional and more competitive selection rank that can be used as part of your application to QTAC for entry to tertiary study.

How do I do this?

There are many pathways available to students wishing to upgrade their qualifications and improve their chances of gaining tertiary entrance.  You can complete secondary education, repeat senior,  complete some preparatory study, or complete some tertiary study.

Alternative Entry is another option to consider to upgrade your qualifications.

Note:  Alternative Entry is generally not accepted for Year 12 students as a means of entry to tertiary courses.  For further clarification, it is essential that you check with the admissions office at the institution you want to apply to.

Some of the more popular methods of gaining entry to tertiary study are explained in the QTAC Guide.  As well as Alternative Entry methods and institution specific policies on the use of Alternative Entry qualifications, this publication also contains various schedules used by QTAC for assessment purposes.
